Boundary Review 2025

Antigonish County is divided into electoral districts. Currently, there are ten districts, and each district is represented by a member of Council. Provincial legislation requires that the boundaries of the districts are reviewed every eight years, to make sure that districts are as equal in the number of electors as possible. With the growth and movement of people in Antigonish County, the district boundaries need to be changed.

!UPDATED! Revised Proposed Boundaries for 2028

Using the feedback received from the community during the Public Information Sessions, revisions are suggested to the proposed boundaries for consideration:

A big change between the current boundaries and the proposed boundaries is the use of local communities to define the boundaries of a district.  Wherever possible, the entire community (e.g. Lakevale, Beech Hill, Afton) is contained within one district, instead of being split.  This allows residents to quickly identify their district based on their Canada Post mailing address.
