Extensions and upgrades to wastewater and water infrastructure in Antigonish will help support new housing developments and continued growth.
“Antigonish continues to grow and thrive, and we need to ensure we have the wastewater and water capacity to support this development,” said Michelle Thompson, Minister of Health and Wellness and MLA for Antigonish, on behalf of John Lohr, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. “You may not notice water and wastewater projects when you walk through a community. But to build more housing, to build medical clinics and attract the professionals we need to staff them, we need water and wastewater. These are critical projects for the future of our community.”
The Province is investing almost $2.84 million in the two projects, with an additional $2.84 million coming from the Town of Antigonish and the Municipality of the County of Antigonish.
The projects are part of the Municipal Capital Growth Program, a one-time $102-million investment in projects across Nova Scotia – a historic provincial investment in municipal infrastructure.
