The Town of Antigonish advises that it will be undertaking work for relining (painting) of the Bethany Water Storage Tower.
The contractor has begun mobilizing equipment to the site this week (as of June 26) with an expected project start date of July 2nd. In the meantime the draining of the Tower will be commencing on June 28 where the storage tower will be kept empty for approximately 8 – 12 weeks until the job is complete. This work is critical for the overall storage tank long term maintenance and ensuring the ongoing water quality to its customers.
Given the nature of the work, there will be some disruption to the services in surrounding area. A test isolating the Bethany Tank from the rest of the system was completed a couple of weeks ago and static pressures were largely unaffected for domestic flows. However, reduced pressures may be seen on the eastern side of the water system, particularly at higher elevations.
