New Appleseed Drive Crosswalks

Creating safer neighbourhoods in our community

The Municipality would like to advise residents that new crosswalks have been installed along Appleseed Drive to improve pedestrian safety and enhance connections within the area, particularly for students travelling to and from schools on Appleseed Drive.

These improvements include:

• Two new crosswalks connecting to the sidewalk installed along Appleseed Drive earlier this summer
• A crosswalk across Highland Drive, providing a direct connection between Appleseed Drive and Townsend Street
• A mid-block crosswalk located between Highland Drive and Florence Circle, directly in front of the Antigonish Education Centre (AEC)

Additional safety measures will be introduced in the coming weeks, including:

• A crossing guard stationed at the Appleseed Drive crosswalk during before and after school hours
• Installation of flashing lights to assist pedestrian safety outside of school hours

These enhancements are part of ongoing efforts to improve walkability and support safer travel routes for residents, particularly school children.

Drivers are reminded to slow down, stay alert, and obey posted school zone speed limits to help keep everyone safe.
