Emergency Drinking Water Available

UPDATE

(November 4, 2025) – Water Distribution Program Update

The Municipality’s Water Distribution Program will continue until Friday, November 7, 2025, or while supplies last.

So far, we’ve distributed 2,220 cases of water (24 x 355ml bottles) to County residents experiencing dry or low wells.

Next week, Regional Emergency Management Operations (REMO) will release a community survey to help better understand the impact of this summer’s drought and to support planning for future events.

(September 18, 2025) – Water Distribution Program Update

We continue to hear from residents whose wells are running dry or experiencing low drinking water levels. The County has restocked its supply of household drinking water, and is available for County residents who are NOT on Municipal Water.

Eligible residents may collect up to 4L of drinking water per person, per day, for a maximum of 4 people per household. Water is available for pickup at the Municipal Public Works Office (261 Beech Hill Road), Monday to Friday, 9-12 & 1-4, while supplies last.

Since launching in August, we’ve distributed more than 800 cases of water to local households

(September 9, 2025) – Water Distribution Program Update

The County’s water distribution program will conclude this Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Thanks to improving well water levels across the County, the need for bottled water has dropped. Over the past three weeks, the County distributed more than 650 cases of water (24 bottles each).

Bottled water will remain available while supplies last. If you continue to experience persistent low drinking water in your well, please contact Public Works at 902-863-5004.

(August 19, 2025) – The Antigonish Regional Emergency Management Organization (REMO) has received a supply of drinking water from the Nova Scotia Emergency Management Organization to support County residents who rely on dug wells and are experiencing water shortages or issues with their personal drinking water.

Eligible residents may collect up to 4L of drinking water per person, per day, for a maximum of 4 people per household. Water is available for pickup at the Municipal Public Works Office (261 Beech Hill Road), Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., while supplies last.

To qualify, residents must:

  • Live in Antigonish County in a year-round residence.
  • Rely on a dug well that is dry, low, or where drinking water is being actively conserved.

When picking up water, residents will be asked to provide their name, civic address, and confirm that they are on a dug well.
