Municipal Tax & Services Rates

The Municipality of the County of Antigonish issues property tax bills annually. The tax year covers the fiscal period from April 1 to March 31.

Tax Calculation: Property taxes are calculated by multiplying the taxable assessed value of a property by the applicable tax rate. Council sets the tax rate each year as part of the annual budget approval process.

Assessed Value: The taxable assessed value of your property is determined by the Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC), a not-for-profit organization responsible for assessing all properties in Nova Scotia under the Assessment Act. Property owners receive an assessment notice from PVSC each January.

If you believe your assessment is incorrect, you have the right to appeal. Appeals must be submitted to PVSC within 21 days of the date on your notice. Please follow the instructions included with your assessment notice. Note that only the market value assessment may be appealed.

For more information about your property assessment, please visit the PVSC website or contact them directly at 1-800-380-7775.
