It’s National Volunteer Week!
We’re celebrating our Volunteers of the Year by recognizing both an individual volunteer and two volunteer groups from our community.
Volunteers are the backbone of Antigonish County, giving their time and energy to keep centres running, support local organizations, and create opportunities for all. The Antigonish County Volunteers of the Year Award honours those who make a meaningful difference in our community.

Award Details
Volunteer of the Year
- One nominee will be selected by random draw as Antigonish County’s Volunteer of the Year
- Option to represent the Municipality at the Provincial Volunteer Awards in the fall (includes two banquet tickets and a one-night hotel stay)
- $250 honorarium
- Recognition on the County website, social media, and at the annual Canada Day Concert & Fireworks Celebration at Columbus Field
Volunteer Group
- Two groups that submit volunteer of the year nominations will be selected by random draw to receive $250 each to support their organization
Eligibility
- Nominees must volunteer within the Municipality of the County of Antigonish
- Municipal Councillors and employees are not eligible for nomination
How to Nominate
- Submit a nomination on behalf of your local volunteer group, highlighting how your nominee’s contributions have impacted the community, supported others, and inspired people to get involved.
- Tell us what your volunteer groups would do with an extra $250.
