(November 28, 2025) – PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025 the Council of the Municipality of the County of Antigonish approved amendments to the Land Use By-law to update the setback requirements for utility-scale wind turbines in accordance with new provincial regulations. The purpose of the proposed amendment is to amend the Antigonish County Land Use By-law to align with new provincial regulations for wind turbine setbacks, limiting the required distance to four times the turbine height. The proposed amendment also amends setback requirements from public highways and watercourses and clarifies the definition of “public road”.
An aggrieved person, an adjacent Municipality, or the Provincial Director of Planning may, within 14 days of the date of this notice, appeal this decision to the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board (Toll Free 1-855-442-4448, Email: board@novascotia.ca).
